Annual Statement of Assurance
Every New Jersey school entity submits an Annual Statement of Assurance regardless of whether the current year is a designated testing year.
Short answer: Under current NJDOE instructions, the Annual Statement of Assurance (SOA) is due by June 30 each year. Confirm the current submission form and deadline with NJDOE before your submission window opens.
What the SOA generally confirms
- Whether required testing has been completed for the applicable cycle
- Whether results have been posted as required
- Whether required notifications were sent after any elevated results
- Whether remediation and retesting steps were completed where applicable
- Current recordkeeping status
Preparation checklist
- Confirm the current SOA form and instructions on NJDOE's website before starting.
- Gather testing records, results, and any remediation documentation for the applicable period.
- Confirm results posting and notification steps were completed and documented.
- Have the appropriate district official review and submit before the deadline.
- Retain a copy of the submitted SOA and supporting records.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the SOA is only required during a designated testing year
- Missing the June 30 deadline because it wasn't tracked separately from the testing cycle
- Submitting without confirming the current year's exact form and instructions
