Find Your New Jersey Water Quality Report
Search by city, borough, township, or ZIP code, to reach the water quality report page for your location.
How this search finds your report
New Jersey water service does not follow municipal lines. New Jersey American Water, Suez/Veolia, and Middlesex Water cross municipal boundaries, many municipalities run their own systems, and parts of the state are served by private wells. Knowing your municipality is not the same as knowing your water system.
This search matches what you type against mapped New Jersey municipalities and water systems, then opens the report page that covers them. It runs entirely from data built into this site, so it works even when outside services are down.
| What you type | How it is resolved |
|---|---|
| City or town | Matched against mapped New Jersey boroughs, townships, cities, towns, and villages, plus county guides. Names match with or without the municipality-type suffix, so “Egg Harbor” and “Egg Harbor Township” both work. |
| ZIP code | Matched against a prebuilt index that intersects Census ZIP Code Tabulation Area boundaries with Census municipal boundaries. A ZIP that covers several municipalities returns all of them. |
| System or PWS ID | Matched directly against named New Jersey water systems, utilities, and PWS IDs. |
| A pasted street address | The city or ZIP code inside it is used. Street-level lookup is not performed, so confirm your system on your bill. |
What a result does and does not tell you
A result identifies the public water systems mapped to a municipality or ZIP code. Those service-area boundaries are estimates produced from utility records and modeling, not surveyed service lines, and a single ZIP or town can contain several systems.
- Always confirm your system on your water bill, or in NJDEP Drinking Water Viewer.
- A town is not one water system. If more than one system is mapped to your location, all of them are shown.
- Private wells are not covered by public-water Consumer Confidence Reports. If no mapped system covers your area, see private well guidance and New Jersey Private Well Testing Act information.
- This is not an address-level service determination and is not a substitute for your utility or a certified laboratory test.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my ZIP code return more than one water system?
ZIP code boundaries and water system service areas are unrelated. A single New Jersey ZIP can span several municipalities, each with its own water system, plus investor-owned utilities and private wells. All mapped matches are shown so you can pick the one that fits your location.
Can I search by street address?
Not at street level. If you paste a full address, the search uses the city or ZIP code inside it. Because service areas cross municipal lines, always confirm your exact system on your water bill or in the NJDEP Drinking Water Viewer.
Is what I search stored or sent anywhere?
No. The search runs entirely in your browser against data built into this site. Nothing you type leaves the page.
What is a PWS ID?
A Public Water System identification number. It is the reliable key for looking up your system's official record and Consumer Confidence Report in the NJDEP Drinking Water Viewer.
Search results are based on modeled service-area data and may be incomplete, dated, or approximate. Do not interpret a result as an address-level service determination or as a complete inventory of New Jersey public water systems.
